Fatima holds a BA (Arch.) & BA (Urban Studies) from the University of Minnesota. She also holds an M.Sc. (Arch.) in Economics and Management of Construction from the Bartlett School of Architecture & Planning, University College (UCL), University of London. Fatima is a qualified Facility Management Professional (FMP) and is currently pursuing an MBA in Real Estate and Construction, from the University of Reading, U. K. Fatima is the CEO of Filmo Group

As a young graduate, she was a resident architect at the Air Force Military School, Jos, and was in charge of converting it from the old Jos Airport. Afterwards, she joined Multi-Systems Consultants Limited Architects and Planners, Kano as a resident architect from 1983–85. In 1987, she worked briefly with Femi Majekodunmi & Associates, Lagos. Her experience in property design and management saw her as Head of Real Estate Department, Cosmocorp Realty ( a part of the Cosmocorp Group) from 1990–92.

In 1992, she was appointed General Manager of Alpha Properties International Ltd., the post she held until she resigned to jointly set up Participant Properties Limited in 1994 as the Managing Director. She has managed the firm from inception to date, and successfully expanded its activities to Abuja, overseeing the overall activities of all the branches. Fatima is director at BGL PLC, one of the foremost investment banking companies in Africa with head office in Nigeria, offering first class financial advisory, corporate finance and private banking/asset management services to an expanding clientele comprised of institutional, corporate, government and ultra high net-worth clients.

Fatima Wali has attended several management training courses and seminars, both within and outside Nigeria.

Initiatives

Fatima has initiated and worked on several projects including pioneering the concept of luxury apartments in Nigeria with Texaco and Schlumberger being the first off takers.

Boards

She has recently been appointed on the board of Triquest Energy Limited and BGL Limited. She is also on the Advisory Board of the Chapel Hill Denham Fund for Women, OANDO foundation and a WIMBOARD lead ambassador (WIMBIZ initiative).

Memberships

Fatima is a member of the Lagos State University governing council and a member of the presidential committee for flood, relief and rehabilitation set up to raise funds and rehabilitate the victims of the flood that affected twenty-four states of the federation

Savvy

Fatima has thirty years of commercial real estate experience, encompassing development and project management, architectural/design and consulting. She served as a panelist in Harvard Business School’s 2006 African Business Conference and Stanford University’s African Business Conference in 2010. She was also one of the primary links between International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Access bank in the promotion and establishment of the Gender Entrepreneurship Markets initiative in Nigeria.

Fatima served on the central organising committee for the 17th Nigeria Economic Summit and the Private Sector Working Group (PSWG) on the prioritisation of federal Government policies, programmes and projects from 2011-2015. She was also appointed to the National special task force on refineries set up by the ministry of petroleum resources.

Family

Fatima is married with three sons
