Chief of Army Staff, Tukuru Buratai, a major general, has said efforts are in top gear to make the command headquarters of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) Multi-National Joint Task Force functional.
He said this shortly after he met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa on Thursday.
“We are working hard in collaboration with the Multi-National Joint Task Force to ensure that it comes into full operation,’’ he said, but did not disclose the content of his discussion with the president on his new posting.
He, however, told State House Correspondents that events in the nation’s army command would be unfolded soon, saying “I know you people are dynamic and want everything out at once. Let’s wait.
I am just few hours on this seat; I will give you as the time unfolds.”
He said he was moving to Damaturu, Yobe State, to celebrate the Sallah with the troops in the front there.
Buratai is among the new service chiefs appointed by Buhari on July 13, and he hails from Borno State, and was until his new appointment the Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force, with headquarters in Ndjamena.
He had previously served as commander of the Nigerian Army’s 2nd Brigade in Port Harcourt and commander of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry in Jaji, Kaduna State.
