…flags off inaugural 2025 PUBG MOBILE Africa cup
In a move signalling its growing ambition in the Nigerian market, global smartphone brand Infinix has launched a flagship retail store in Abuja, marking a significant step in the company’s efforts to expand its physical retail presence across the country.
The new outlet, located at Jabi Lake Mall, was unveiled on Sunday and is designed not just as a traditional sales point, but as an immersive brand experience centre.
According to Bamidele Akande, Infinix Nigeria’s retail manager, the store was strategically positioned in the heart of the nation’s capital to deepen the brand’s connection with Nigerian consumers.
“Jabi Lake Mall is a vibrant hub for lifestyle, technology and entertainment,” Akande said. “This store is more than a retail outlet — it’s an experience hub with immersive zones where customers can engage with our smartphones, accessories and wider AIoT ecosystem.”
He added that the space also includes a gaming studio tailored to Infinix’s fan community. “Infinix is more than a phone brand — it’s a lifestyle brand that listens, innovates and connects with its people. Today is proof of that, and we are only just getting started.”
The Abuja launch also served as the platform for the debut of the Infinix GT 30 Pro, described as the company’s first true gaming flagship. Speaking on the device, Oluwayemisi Ode, PR Manager at Infinix Nigeria, noted that the GT 30 Pro is aimed squarely at performance enthusiasts and mobile gamers.
“This is a collector’s device built for those who demand peak performance,” she said. “It delivers stable gameplay at 120 to 144 FPS, certified by PUBG, Call of Duty Mobile and Mobile Legends.”
Ode explained that the GT 30 Pro is powered by a Dimensity 8350 Ultimate processor with 3D Vapour Cooling, a 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED display, GT triggers with motion control, JBL dual speakers, a 108MP AI camera, and a 5500mAh battery supporting both fast and wireless charging.
She noted that only 30 units are available in Nigeria, making it a niche flagship for early adopters. “The new Infinix store at Jabi Lake Mall is more than just a space to shop — it’s a hub for innovation, creativity and community,” she added. “Launching our GT 30 Pro live at this event is a statement that we are committed to driving the future of smart living and performance-driven devices.”
The event drew high-level guests, including Yomi Omogbehin, Permanent Secretary for Special Duties and Parliamentary Security at the National Assembly, who praised Infinix’s growing presence in Nigeria’s capital.
“This investment creates jobs, empowers young people, and contributes to the city’s growth,” he said, describing the launch as a vote of confidence in Abuja as an emerging centre for commerce and innovation.
Addressing Nigerian youths, he urged them to leverage opportunities in tech and digital innovation. “You have the creativity to compete globally — what’s required is dedication and resilience,” he said. He also called for more collaboration between the government and private sector players like Infinix, noting that while the government creates the enabling environment, “the private sector brings innovation, investment and expertise.”
In addition to the store launch, Infinix announced a major push into Africa’s esports space with the inaugural 2025 PUBG MOBILE Africa Cup, organised in partnership with PUBG MOBILE. The tournament’s grand finals were held in Kenya on September 13–14 and featured the Infinix GT 30 Pro as the official gaming device.
With a prize pool of $8,000, the tournament offered the winning team $2,000 and a slot in the 2025 PUBG MOBILE Global Championship. The competition was accompanied by a Gaming Fan Festival, which featured cosplay contests, cheer squads and prize giveaways — part of what Infinix says is its commitment to “esports and youth culture across Africa.”
To commemorate the Abuja store opening, customers who purchased Infinix devices between September 12 and 13 were entered into raffle draws to win home appliances, smartphones and accessories.
The brand also hosted a series of gaming challenges via its XCLUB platform, while appearances from celebrities including Bisola Aiyeola, Kenny Blaq, Saga Adeolu, Papeeyah and MC Miti added flair to the event.
The Abuja launch capped a three-day activation that began on Friday, September 12, and showcased Infinix’s broader push into retail, entertainment and gaming as part of its long-term strategy in Nigeria.
