In furtherance of its strategic initiative aimed at enhancing its presence throughout Africa, International Data Corporation (IDC) is poised to tap into the burgeoning opportunities currently presenting themselves in Nigeria, Ghana and others.
The market intelligence firm, which seeks to grow its business in Nigeria and Ghana, has appointed a country manager for its West Africa office.
Bola Adisa, country manager for West Africa, IDC, said in a statement posted on the company’s website: “The Nigerian market is currently undergoing a period of transformation that is characterised by the growing influence of ‘3rd Platform’ technologies.”
“As widely predicted by IDC, the transition to the ‘3rd Platform’ represents an innovation-driven shift from the IT industry that is built on the four technology pillars of cloud, mobile, big data, and social applications. And the recent happenings in the market all suggest that these pillars are effectively building up the IT space in Nigeria.”
He added that it was expected that more investments would be made in the country’s IT sector to further boost seamless activities such as cashless payments, online transactions, and data capturing.
“The cumulative impact of these developments will serve as a catalyst for Nigeria accomplishing its stated aim of becoming one of the top 20 economies in the world by the year 2020. My role as country manager for IDC West Africa gives me the opportunity to take responsibility for ensuring these IDC predictions become reality, thereby providing a beneficial legacy for all the economies of the West Africa region.”
Adisa has more than 14 years of professional experience in various capacities, having previously excelled in the areas of business solutions management, product management, pre-sales consultancy, business development, business requirement analysis, and network engineering.
His vast ICT experience encompasses the provision of solutions to a diverse range of industry verticals, including banking, energy and natural resources, telecommunications, and government. In his previous role as a senior industry solutions advisor for a global software services vendor, he worked closely with business development executives and C-suite decision makers in crafting best-practice solutions for constantly evolving business challenges.
