Boetheia Limited, a healthcare delivery firm, has advocated that healthcare services should be treated as a basic right rather than a privilege.
Alexander Ruyi, chief executive officer of the company, who stated this in an interview with newsmen in Benin City, also called for the simplification of healthcare services as a way of making Nigerians get the maximum benefits from the services.
He added that the firm also advocated that people should have access to healthcare services with minimal challenges.
While advocating for access to medication and treatment support that would be designed around human needs, he noted that rather than approaching healthcare as a distant or complex system, the company focuses on practical, human-centred solutions that fit into real life.
According to him, by staying grounded in practicality and compassion, “Boetheia continues to move steadily toward this goal, offering help in its truest form, exactly when it is needed.”
According to him, “Boetheia Limited was established in response to these lived experiences. Rather than approaching healthcare as a distant or complex system, the company focuses on practical, human-centred solutions that fit into real life.
“Through thoughtful use of technology, consistent support, and a strong emphasis on empathy, Boetheia aims to make medication access simpler, treatment adherence easier, and healthcare more approachable.
“Another area of challenge in healthcare delivery is that many people overlook medication adherence. Adherence to medication plays a critical role in treatment outcomes.
“A prescription is only effective when it is taken as directed and over the recommended period. Missed doses or inconsistent use can gradually undermine treatment, leading to avoidable complications and recognising that adherence is influenced by many factors beyond personal discipline.
“Stress, forgetfulness, financial strain, and confusion about instructions all contribute. Rather than placing blame, the company has a platform that offers reminders, guidance, and encouragement that would help users stay consistent in a supportive way.”
Ruyi, who opined that the cost of healthcare remains one of the biggest obstacles for many people, noted that when treatment becomes unaffordable, care is often delayed until health conditions worsen.
He, however, posited that Boetheia addresses these challenges through its #ClubSos initiative, which provides affordable health insurance options designed to reflect everyday financial realities.
He emphasised that the initiative is guided by the belief that financial constraints should not determine access to healthcare and that by reducing the cost burden.
He added that Boetheia enables individuals to seek care earlier and remain consistent with treatment, leading to better outcomes and reduced stress.
Speaking on how the company supports users in taking control of their health, the Boetheia boss said the organisation helps to simplify medical jargon to the end users, “by offering clarity and steady support.
“Through reminders, guidance, and easy-to-use tools, the platform helps users stay engaged without feeling pressured. The emphasis is on building sustainable habits rather than expecting perfection.
“Over time, this supportive approach helps users feel more confident and capable in managing their health, transforming them from passive recipients of care into active participants,” he added.
