In a bid to reduce tuberculosis and leprosy in the country, six oil producing companies has donated a fully equipped multi-million naira chest clinic to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) for the treatment of tuberculosis and other chest contagious diseases.
The oil companies are the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Chevron, Stat Oil, Famfa Oil and BR, as well as Petrobra. The clinic was handed over to Orkurga Malu, a professor and the chief medical director of BSUTH.
The ultra modern clinic is a project jointly executed by Agbami Field and partners and it is targeted at fulfilling a corporate responsibility through the implementation of projects in various parts of the country.

Modupe Alakaji, chairman, Famfa Oil Limited, said the oil partners have implemented several projects to improve health care delivery system in the states across the country and added that the advancement of healthcare holds a special attraction for them.
He urged the government and the people to make judicious use of the facilities.
Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue state said the clinic would go a long way in addressing the health needs of the agrarian people, most especially in the treatment of tuberculosis, adding that it would also proffer lasting solutions as Benue state is rated high in HIV and TB prevalence.
The Governor, who was represented by Steven Lawani, a chief and his deputy, however commended the oil companies for finding Benue worthy of benefiting from the modern healthcare centre and advised the generality of the Benue public to take advantage of the gesture.
