Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Tinubu’s Political Adviser has resigned.
BusinessDay gathered from sources at the Presidential Villa, that Baba-Ahmed sent in his resignation letter on Thursday, 3rd of April, 2025.
The former Spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum was appointed as Special Adviser on Political Matters to the President, Office of the Vice President, in September, 2023.

Prior to this appointment, he had played a strong role in the Northern Elders Forum, after working with Bukola Saraki, the former President of the 8th Senate, as Chief of Staff.
Baba-Ahmed who worked in various capacities in the civil service, rose to the position of Permanent Secretary and also served as Secretary to the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.
BusinessDay also gathered that he however did not give reasons for resigning, as Political Adviser.
Presidency sources also revealed that no fewer than three political appointee, especially of Northern extractions have resigned from the Presidency in the past two years of the Tinubu’s presidency.
” Apart from Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Ajuri Ngelale, another appointee, in the office of the Chief Economic Adviser to the President, also resigned”
Our source who did not want his name in print, however noted that ” there resignation must be purely due to dissatisfaction with the work environment and nothing to do with politics” .

It was gathered that Baba-Ahmed, had sometimes last year, fell out with Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, following his views on the NEF.
