Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has presented a budget estimate of ₦650.63 billion to the State House of Assembly for the 2026 fiscal year.
Presenting the proposal during plenary, the governor said the budget, tagged “Development We Can See,” is focused on massive infrastructural expansion across the state in 2026.
Kefas said “every kobo must become a road that connects communities, empowered and productive youths, hospitals that save lives, and schools that provide a conducive learning environment for children.”
He explained that ₦467.74 billion, representing 70.36%, is earmarked for capital expenditure, while ₦192.89 billion, representing 29.64%, is proposed for recurrent spending.
The governor projected ₦29.78 billion in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and ₦376.16 billion from FAAC, with the balance expected from other sources.

He noted that, as of the end of September, the 2025 budget recorded 37% performance for capital expenditure and 50.7% for recurrent expenditure.
Kizito Bonzana, Speaker of the House, said the Assembly would give the 2026 budget proposal accelerated consideration to ensure timely passage.
