Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has rewarded Nigeria’s U20 women’s team, the Falconets, with $15,000 following their 4-0 victory over Rwanda in a 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.
Goals from Precious Oscar, Tumininu Adeshina, Janet Akekoromowei and Alaba Olabiyi sealed a 5-0 aggregate win for the Falconets, setting up a third-round clash against either Senegal or Algeria in February 2026.

Makinde, who watched the match at the stadium, praised the Falconets’ dominant performance and commended them for making Ibadan proud. His dollar gift added a celebratory highlight to a brilliant evening for Nigeria’s young stars.
The Falconets displayed flair and determination from the start, with Oscar opening the scoring in the 12th minute before Adeshina’s corner forced an own goal eight minutes later.
Akekoromowei extended the lead with a composed finish in the second half, while Olabiyi rounded off the win in stoppage time.
With the governor’s gesture boosting morale, the Falconets will now turn their focus to the decisive third round as they continue their bid for a ticket to the 2026 U20 Women’s World Cup.
