Golf X, an immersive golf-entertainment experience, has launched in Lagos with the opening of a new leisure hub at Lakowe Lakes. The facility introduces a new form of social recreation that combines golf, digital systems and shared play, reflecting changes in how residents spend their leisure time.
The launch adds a new option to Lagos’ lifestyle and entertainment space, bringing a golf-based experience that focuses on participation rather than competition. Golf X is designed as a place for recreation, social interaction and group activities, allowing visitors to engage with golf in a format that does not depend on prior experience or skill.
The facility uses Topgolf-style technology that allows players to hit microchipped balls towards targets on an outfield. Each shot is tracked automatically, with data on distance and accuracy displayed in real time. This format turns golf into a shared activity where players can compete, observe progress and engage with one another throughout each session.
Golf X is open to a range of users, including families, corporate teams and social groups. By removing the need for formal training or membership, the space aims to make golf accessible to people who may not usually engage with the sport.
Speaking at the launch, Karla Groenewald, General Manager of Lakowe Lakes Golf & Country Estate, said: “Golf X was created to meet the growing demand for leisure spaces that offer more than just entertainment. We wanted to build a destination where people can connect, play, relax, and create lasting memories whether they’re seasoned golfers, first-time players, families, or groups of friends.”
Beyond gameplay, the hub integrates food and beverage service, allowing guests to spend extended time at the venue. This approach places equal focus on social interaction and shared experiences, positioning golf as part of everyday leisure rather than a restricted activity.
Mofe Alli, Deputy Manager, Business Planning & Strategy, said the concept was built around community use. “Golf X was conceived as a community-oriented destination that encourages social interaction and repeat engagement. The space is intentionally inclusive, catering to diverse audiences while fostering meaningful connection through shared experiences,” he said.
With the opening of Golf X, Lakowe Lakes expands its role as a leisure destination. The venue is now open to the public and welcoming visitors to engage in a new form of golf-based entertainment in Lagos.
