Ashaku Abbo, a former senator, who represented Adamawa North constituency, has said that God told him to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Abbo, who opened up on a key moment in his political journey, expressed regret over past decisions made without spiritual guidance, and emphasized a renewed commitment to divine direction in future political moves.
In a personal reflection shared with the public, the politician revealed that their 2020 defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was not preceded by spiritual consultation.
“I left PDP for APC in 2020 without praying or seeking God’s direction. I acted purely on tangible reasons, human judgment, and the desire to go with the tide,” the statement read.
He also said that having concluded a 31-day fasting and prayers, where he sought divine guidance not only for political path but for other areas of life as well, hinted that an official statement regarding his political stands will be released, following final consultations with close associates and community stakeholders.
“This time around, I have undertaken 31days of fasting and prayers, seeking directions. Among other things, I asked God to reveal His will for me.
“A tentative official statement will be issued soon after due consultations with my people on what the Spirit told me. I am no longer moved by sight, sweet words, emotions or mere instincts. I am now led by the Spirit of God and calm-spirited negotiations.”
The politician’s remarks signal a significant shift in his approach to politics from instinctive decisions to spiritually-guided leadership as Nigeria continues to experience dynamic political realignments ahead of future elections.
