Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has returned to Nigeria after several weeks on vacation in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, signaling a fresh round of political engagements in the coming days.
According to a statement issued by Muhammad Garba, Ganduje’s chief of staff, said the former Governor of Kano State, arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Saturday at about 4:30 p.m. aboard an Emirates Airlines flight. He was scheduled to continue his journey to Abuja.
The return of the former APC National Chairman is expected to kick-start a series of high-level consultations and meetings with party leaders and key stakeholders, particularly in Kano State, where political realignments have continued to attract national attention.

The engagements, the statement said, are intended to review recent political developments and assess the evolving political landscape within the state and the party.
“These consultations are aimed at reviewing the current political environment and engaging widely with party leaders and other critical stakeholders,” Garba noted.
Beyond political meetings, Ganduje is also expected to take part in the ongoing APC nationwide electronic membership registration exercise. The e-registration, which was initiated during his tenure as National Chairman, is designed to modernise the party’s membership system, improve internal planning, and ensure that party records are accurate, credible, and easily accessible.
Party insiders view Ganduje’s participation in the exercise as a symbolic reaffirmation of his continued commitment to party reforms and organisational strengthening, even after leaving office.
“The former governor remains committed to strengthening party structures and promoting inclusive dialogue in support of democratic consolidation within the APC, particularly in Kano State,” the statement added.
Ganduje’s return comes at a time when Kano’s political scene is witnessing renewed activity, with both ruling and opposition parties repositioning ahead of future electoral contests. Observers say his consultations could play a significant role in shaping the direction of APC politics in the state and beyond.
