At least four children have been brutally killed in an attack on Dorong village, Foron district of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, deepening fears over the worsening security situation in the area.
The attack, which occurred in the late hours of Friday, was allegedly carried out by armed herders, residents said, heightening tensions in the troubled community.
The victims were identified as Precious Joshuah, 17; Isa’ac Joshuah, 9; Mary Joshuah, 7; and Eve Sambo, 3, all from the same community.
Local sources who did not want their names mentioned said the killings have left residents traumatised, with many expressing fear over the safety of their families amid recurring violence in the area.

They noted that the atmosphere in Dorong and surrounding villages remained tense, as people worry about possible further attacks if urgent security measures are not sustained.
Confirming the incident, John Tsok, a former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Plateau State, who hails from village, told journalists on Sunday in Jos that the community was thrown into deep mourning by the loss of the children.
He said security operatives had since been deployed to the area to prevent further escalation, warning that without decisive action, lasting peace would remain elusive
As at press time, both the Plateau State Police Command and Operation Enduring Peace were yet to issue any official statement on the killings.
