Casmir Usulor, founder of 01POS, has outlined how his company’s AI-powered point-of-sale platform is helping Nigerian retailers manage operations more effectively and adapt to digital transformation across Africa.
In an interview with ThisDay Live, Usulor spoke about challenges that businesses face in adopting digital systems. He said many retailers hesitate to migrate to cloud-based solutions, often due to fear of disruption. “Fear of change has cost companies millions,” he explained. “At 01POS, we ensure migration is seamless. Inventory becomes organised, secure, and accessible from anywhere. Trust and accuracy are non-negotiable – every detail matters.”
On security, he stressed the company’s focus on data protection. “Privacy is critical. I only access inventories when necessary. Admins are prompted to update passwords immediately, and we use encryption, offshore backups, and stress testing to safeguard information. Reputation depends on it.”
The company has also developed a mobile application to address customer needs and infrastructure challenges. “Customer insights guide development,” Usulor said. “SMEs wanted to use devices they already own, inspiring our mobile app. It works offline, uses the phone as a barcode scanner, and syncs automatically.”
01POS also provides tools for analytics, forecasting, stock alerts, and reorder suggestions. According to Usulor, this allows businesses to plan efficiently without large teams. “To make operations seamless, intelligent, and growth-driven. Focus on what matters—your business, not the process,” he said.
In a move to widen its reach, 01POS has launched a public API, giving developers the opportunity to build e-commerce, booking, and delivery platforms on its system. “Our aim: make it a flexible backbone for businesses while maintaining trust and reliability,” Usulor added.
01POS now positions itself as more than a point-of-sale system, offering a framework that supports digital growth for African retailers.
