The Federal Government has announced plans to intensify its crackdown on examination malpractice across the country, and warned that offenders will face full prosecution under existing laws, as part of a broader effort to safeguard the credibility of national examinations.
In a statement signed by Boriowo Folasade, the director of press and public relations, Ministry of Education, the ministry reaffirmed its commitment to upholding academic integrity and restoring public confidence in Nigeria’s education system.
The Ministry also expressed grave concern over the rising incidents of examination malpractice and reiterated its zero-tolerance stance against the unethical practice, describing it as a serious threat to the integrity of Nigeria’s education system and a major impediment to the country’s human capital development.
“To this end, the Ministry will actively pursue the prosecution of all offenders, working in close partnership with the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), and other relevant law enforcement agencies. The Examination Malpractice Act of 1999 and other applicable laws provide the legal foundation for these decisive actions.

“We will work tirelessly to ensure that examinations remain a true measure of knowledge and competence. Our students deserve a system that rewards merit and prepares them for success in a rapidly evolving global landscape,”
The Ministry emphasized that its renewed efforts align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritizes integrity, meritocracy, and excellence in all sectors, including education.
The Ministry calls on all stakeholders students, parents, teachers, school administrators, and the general public to join in this critical effort to uphold the sanctity of Nigeria’s education system.
The Ministry also encouraged the public to report any known or suspected cases of examination malpractice to the appropriate authorities, stressing that collective vigilance is essential to achieving a credible and merit-based education system.
