The Federal Government says inclusion of Jordan as a permanent pilgrimage destination for Nigerian Christians would bolster bilateral ties, foster cultural and religious exchanges between the two countries.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, disclosed this in his congratulatory message to his counterpart, Ayman Safadi, Deputy-Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on occasion of the Independence anniversary of the country.
Tuggar in a statement issued on Sunday by Kimiebi Ebienfa, Spokesperson,Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commended diplomatic relations between the both countries established on mutual ground.
Tuggar said, “Nigeria and Jordan share a longstanding relationship built on mutual respect, cooperation and shared values in promoting peace, stability and economic development.

“We commend Jordan’s pivotal role in fostering interfaith harmony, regional diplomacy and its commitment to humanitarian causes, particularly in hosting refugees and advocating for a just resolution to the Palestinian question.
“The recent inclusion of Jordan as a permanent pilgrimage destination for Nigerian Christians further strengthens our bilateral ties, fostering cultural and religious exchanges between our nations.
“We appreciate Jordan’s hospitality and support in facilitating seamless pilgrimage experiences for Nigerian citizens.
“As both nations continue to explore areas of collaboration in trade, agriculture, technology and tourism, Nigeria reaffirms its commitment to deepening this partnership for the mutual benefit of our people.”
The minister further congratulated the government and people of Jordan on the occasion of the anniversary, saying we look forward to enhanced cooperation in the years ahead.
