The Federal Government has banned all ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) of government from announcing employment vacancies in their various MDAs. Danladi Kifasi, the head of service of the federation (HOS), issued the order on Thursday, noting that the action became imperative to checkmate the indiscriminate employment and pro- motion that have flooded the government payroll. Addressing a meeting of permanent secretaries, director of finance and account, human resources and head of procurement of all MDAs in Abuja, Kifasi directed that since 2015 budget is still before the National Assembly, all ministries, departments and government agencies should forward all employment vacancies to the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation before the end of March 2015.

Kifasi said government has decided to go back to the proper system of accurate manpower planning and manpower budget defence in accordance with approved structure and manning levels of the budget office to include the personnel cost requirements in the 2016 budget. Earlier in the month, following the recent development in the international oil market that has affected the revenue stream of government, the Federal Government had in a circular titled ‘Restrictions on Foreign Trainings and International Travels by Public Servants’, also banned foreign travels and trainings until further notice.
