Acting Secretary, FCT Agricultural and Rural Development Secretariat (ARDS), Musa Aliyu, stated this while fielding questions from journalists in Abuja.
Aliyu however, added that if anyone notice any usual sign, they should contact the secretariat.
According to him, “On the rumour that there is outbreak of bird flu in FCT, I’m telling you categorically and authoritatively that there has not been any outbreak of such in the Territory.
“But if anyone observes any unusual sign, please let us know immediately, because we have our men in the field to take charge.
“Since the outbreak of 2016, the FCT Minister, Muhammad Bello has always put us on red alert, so that if there is outbreak anywhere, it should be reported and proactive steps will be taken immediately.
“So as I’m talking to you now, I can authoritatively say there is no outbreak of any bird flu within the FCT, and as such please discard any such rumour.
“We have officials all over the fields taking reports of situation in the subsector, and there is anything, it should have been reported. We
are not relaxing on our duty.
“So I’m advising people to go on and enjoy eating their chicken without fear, because there is no outbreak anywhere in the Territory.”
