Atalanta supporters have sent a strong message to Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, urging him to honour his contract with the club amid a tense transfer standoff.
Lookman, who was crowned 2024 African Player of the Year, had been pushing for a move to Inter Milan this summer. Inter saw two bids: €40 million and a follow-up offer of €45 million with add-ons, rejected by Atalanta, who remain unwilling to sell Lookman to a Serie A club.
In frustration, the 27-year-old submitted a transfer request and skipped training, instead travelling to the UK to train individually. Inter eventually turned their attention elsewhere, leaving Lookman with no option but to return to Bergamo.
His comeback to training was met with resistance from supporters. A banner unveiled by Atalanta fans read: “Honour the jersey; more bulls** will not be justified,”* a clear warning directed at the Super Eagles star.
Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi confirmed the club are open to selling Lookman, but only under the right conditions and strictly to a club outside Italy. For now, the winger remains isolated from the first-team group, training separately as the saga drags on.
