Olumide Adeniji, managing director of AOJ Global Concept Limited, has called for adequate investment in training Quantity Surveying (QS), Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) professionals in Nigeria to bridge the industry gap.
Adeniji stated that the initiative was designed to bridge the MEP industry gap and equip aspiring professionals with practical skills.
Speaking at the official launch of the ‘QS MEP Academy’ held recently in Lagos, he explained that the Academy is aimed at giving back to society while addressing the shortage of competent professionals in the industry.
“This initiative is about raising the standard of practice, bridging critical gaps in the industry, and empowering people to excel in their chosen careers,” he said.
The entrepreneur highlighted that the academy’s central mission is to raise competent QS and MEP professionals who can meet the evolving demands of the construction and engineering sectors.
“Our focus is to produce experts who are not only knowledgeable but also practically grounded, ready to meet industry demands,” he further explained.
The program, designed as a three-month intensive training, offers participants a certificate upon completion.
According to Adeniji, the structured approach was carefully developed to ensure impact and excellence.
“The QS MEP Academy is structured to empower students who attend and provide them with the tools they need to become excellent in the industry,” Adeniji emphasized.
He also noted that filling the existing skill gap requires a more deliberate focus on practical knowledge, not just theory.
“The industry has long faced challenges due to lack of exposure to real, practical training. We are determined to change that narrative through this platform,” he stated.
Amenities further reiterated in his statement that the significance of the Academy extends beyond professional development to community impact.
By creating opportunities for aspiring professionals, the program reflects AOJ Global Concept Limited’s commitment to societal advancement, he said.
“For us, this is more than an academy; it is a way of giving back to society while ensuring that the next generation of professionals are well prepared,” he added.
The inauguration in Lekki, which marked the formal unveiling of the Academy, underscores the urgency of addressing the shortage of skilled QS and MEP practitioners.
With the launch of this academy, AOJ Global Concept is setting the tone for a more robust, well-trained workforce that can contribute meaningfully to national development.
