Senate on Thursday confirmed the nomination of Ahmed Kuru and Umaru Danbatta appointment as managing director of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) as well as the executive vice chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), respectively.
Others confirmed by the Senate as AMCON executive directors were Kola Ayeye, Eberechukwu Uneze, and Aminu Ismail.
Confirming the nominations, the chairmen of the two committees that screened them, Gilbert Nnaji, chairman, Senate Committee on Communications and his counterpart in Banking, Insurance and Financial Institutions, Rafiu Ibrahim, said from the CVs submitted by the nominees and the interactions they had with them, they were satisfied that they would deliver on the mandate assigned to them.
In a related development, the Senate yesterday passed a resolution urging the Federal Government to immortalise the late former Governor of Kogi State, Abubakar Audu, who died last Sunday amid electoral contest.
In a motion brought before the Senate by Abdulrahman Abubakar, he told the Senate that the late Audu Abubakar made valuable contributions to the banking sector of Nigeria, adding that he also left an indelible mark on the sands of time in Kogi State, where he served as Governor for two terms
