The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Wednesday announced the termination of appointments of 11 top officers of the Authority, forthwith, in what it called a restructuring exercise.
Sam Adurogboye, assistant general manager, public relations, NCAA, said the exercise was done with a view to enhance efficiency in service delivery and safe flight operations in and out of the nation airspace.
According to him, competent hands have been selected within the Agency to fill some of the positions.
“The exercise involved the termination forthwith of the contract appointments of eight officers whose contracts were to run consecutively for four years contrary to the provision of the rules of tenure on contract appointment.
“Consequently, competent and skilled officers from the affected Directorates/Departments have accordingly been re-assigned to fill the affected positions.
“Also terminated were the appointments of three special assistants to the erstwhile Honourable Minster of Aviation who were domiciled with NCAA. Their appointment ceased with the end of the tenure of the Honourable Minister who engaged their services as stipulated by the rules.
“It is pertinent to point out that the management decision to carry out this exercise is in conformity with extant rules on tenure of contract appointment and in line with NCAA condition of service,” he said.
Only recently, the NCAA performed creditably well in the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Aviation Security Audit and has also just concluded the stakeholders’ conference for the consideration of amendments to the draft Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (NCARs) in conformity to the international standards.
