BusinessDay learnt that the letters to both directors were issued in error and that the Ministry has ordered the Director General of the NCAA, Captain Muhtar Usman to retrieve the letters.
On Friday February 24, 2017 Federal Government through the Ministry of Transport, without warning sacked directors of the agency with immediate effect.
Initially it was learnt that eight directors were fired by the Minister of State for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika after the approval from the Federal Government with two of the directorship positions being empty owing to retirement of the officers there.
However with the recall of sack letters of both Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi , Capt. Ayodele Sasegbon, the number has come down to six directors.
Confirming this t in a short text message, Sam Adurogboye, General Manager, Public Affairs, NCAA,said, Yes , the two (Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi , Ayodele Sasegbon) are not affected. DG just confirmed to me now.”
With this new development, those affected by the sack are now, Salawu Ozigi (Director of Finance and Accounts), Aba Ejembi (Director of Administration), Benedict Adeyileka (Director of Airworthiness), Justus Wariya (Director of Air Transport Regulation), and Austin-Amadi Ifeanyi (Director of Human Resources), Sidi (Director of Training).
It was gathered that Joyce Nkemakolam (Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards) and Emmanuel Ogunbami (Director of Licensing) were no longer with the regulatory body as at the time of this purge.
A source close to the organisation under anonymity said he was unaware and never saw the sack coming even as most of the directors were said to the bedrock of the CAA.
The affected directors were immediately ordered to handover to the next in command in their various directorates who will in the interim take charge of activities in their directorates.
