There is obvious confusion in the All Progressives Congress, APC camp as its Presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari is flagging off his second term campaign on Friday without inaugurating a campaign team.

Unlike the usual practice where political parties and their candidates particularly for the office of Presidency constitute and inaugurate campaign councils headed by a Chairman and a Director General before formally flagging off campaign APC and Buhari are yet to do this two months after the campaigns were to commence.

According to the time table and schedule of activities for the 2019 general elections released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC campaign for the Presidential and National Assembly had commenced November 18.

But rather, Buhari had announced earlier that the Director General of his campaign in 2015, Rotimi Amaechi is still heading the campaign while Festus Keyamo was also appointed Director of Strategic Communication and the official spokesperson of the Buhari Campaign Organization.

Buhari on Tuesday announced that he will be flagging off his campaign soon and the campaign will commence with visits to selected states in each of the six geo-political zones of the country.

The President who disclosed this when he received residents of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, led by the Minister of FCT , Mohammed Bello, on Christmas homage at the Presidential Villa, Abuja , said the primary focus of his campaigns will be on the fight against corruption, tackling insecurity and improving the economy.

Ita Enang, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate) on Monday told journalists that President Buhari will on Friday, December 28 flagged off his second term campaign in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital.

According to Enang, the campaign will kick off in Akwa Ibom because the state has accepted the President fully and the state is ripe for harvest by the party.

He said that the party would use the opportunity to formally present the party’s flag to APC gubernatorial candidates of Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers and Delta respectively.

“President Muhammadu Buhari and 2019 presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress candidate will be in Akwa Ibom on December 28 to flag off the 2019 campaign of the APC.

“He will be coming with the national chairman of the party and the National leaders of the party. The sitting governors of the party and other governorship candidate of the party

“He will be here to formally launch his campaign and flag off the 2019 presidential election campaign,“ Enang said.

A source in APC National Secretariat who do not want to be mentioned in print while confirming the development said the campaign team has already been constituted and the list is submitted to Buhari but he is yet to give approval or make input.
