As Osinbajo, others held thanksgiving service for Buhari’s return
President Muhammadu Buhari will be returning to the United Kingdom on a later date for a review of his health, Presidential Spokesman, Femi Adesina confirmed on Sunday.
Adesina who was speaking in an interview on national television said the President had on Friday, during his interaction with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, members of the Federal Executive Council, State Governors and Security Chiefs, personally revealed that he will return to the UK for a review.
“All I will need is to do further follow ups within some weeks” Buhari said while admitting that he was very sick to the extent of taking blood transfusion. He however, added that he had rested as much as humanly possible and received the best of treatment he could receive.
On a possible cabinet reshuffle, Adesina said the vacant positions in Kogi as a result James Ocholi’s death and Gombe as a result of Amina Mohammed’s appointment as Deputy Secretary of United Nation’s will be filled.
Ocholi, former Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, died on March 6, 2016, in an auto-crash on the Abuja-Kaduna Highway.
The Presidential Spokesman however reiterated that governance went on seamlessly while the President was away.
The President is expected to transmit a letter to the National Assembly on Monday to officially inform them of his return to the country. Adesina had on Friday stated on his twitter handle his that “PMB will Monday transmit letter to N’ Assembly on his return to the country. That makes his return to work formal, and constitutional”.
Meanwhile Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, his wife, Dolapo, alongside clerics and some members of the Federal Executive Council on Sunday held a thanksgiving service for President Buhari’s safe return on Friday.
The Service was held at the Aso Villa Chapel in the State House, Abuja.
