Determined to eradicate fake, loss of man-hours and bottlenecks hitherto associated with access to vehicle insurance in the country, AutoGenius, an ICT-based company, in conjunction with other corporate organisations, has launched an online insurance platform, MyAutoGenius.com
In his opening speech at the event, Gbenro Dara, COO, AutoGenius, said the innovation would revolutionalise insurance industry in Nigeria, saying that it was aimed at helping Nigerians do insurance in the comfort of their homes.
Onyeka Akumah, lead marketing & communications consultant at AutoGenius, explained that the technology was to halt the ugly trend where people buy insurance product from total strangers.
“What we have always heard people say is that they bought their insurance ‘from one guy like that’. So, we leveraged on that level of ignorance to create a genius that can help us solve all the problems associated with accessing vehicle insurance. The product will help us to do insurance the right way. We created a hash tag, #OneGuyLikeThat campaign. It is our hope that the product will change the face of vehicle insurance in the country,” he said.
Kola Oyeneyin, CEO, Venia Technologies Ltd (owners of myautogenius.com), said that the product promises to provide car owners across Nigeria with auto insurance policies within 5 minutes.
“All insurance policies bought on myautogenius.com web or mobile sites will also be uploaded instantly on Nigeria Insurance Database (NIID), by Hightower Insurance Brokers Ltd (The brokerage company behind AutoGenius), to guarantee its authenticity,” he said.
While demonstrating to the audience how fast and easy it is to log on to myautogenius.com, Oyeneyin said it enables the customer “search, compare insurers and buy their car insurance covers available from the leading insurance players in Nigeria within 5 minutes.”
“Customers can also report claims real-time online,” he added.
According to those behind the product, “the A-List insurance partners who will first be showcasing their auto-policies through myautogenius.com include AIICO Insurance, Custodian & Allied Insurance, Leadway Assurance, NEM Insurance, Royal Exchange Plc. and Sovereign Trust Insurance.”
