There are strong indications that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will resume work on monday, following ongoing negotiations with the federal government, BusinessDay has gathered.

During a meeting with a team of the National Higher Education Forum in Abuja, the education minister, Adam Adamu hinted that universities will likely reopen for learning, while confirming ongoing talks.

ASUU had on monday embarked on an indefinite industrial action citing government’s refusal to meet some  demands and subsequent agreements they reached.

Adamu confimed on Wednesday that ASUU had made some eight demands which he however assured government was already working on.

The minister also admitted that failure of the government to keep to ealier reached agreement contributed to the ASUU strike, as he however blamed the university officials for not following due process and giving adequate notice before downing tools.
