APC primaries: Adebule, deputy governor leads votes against Ambode

Idiat Adebule, Lagos State Deputy Governor is said to have voted against her boss, Governor Akinwunmi  Ambode in the on-going All Progressives Congress (APC) party primaries. Adebule said she had to go with the decision of the party, hence her decision to vote for Sanwo-Olu.

Results from the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in Lagos show Babajide Sanwo-Olu leading the incumbent Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

Femi Hamzat, the third aspirant in the contest, had four days ago, stepped down for Sanwo-Olu, who is the preferred candidate of the Lagos APC leadership, thereby placing him at an advantage.

At Ikeja Ward C, Makinde Street, Alausa, Sanwo-Olu scored 960 votes to beat Ambode, who secured four votes. The Ikeja Ward C, is the ward of Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the APC.

At Ward E3, Lagos Island, where Sanwo-Olu himself voted, a total of 4,500 votes were recorded for him while Ambode recorded no vote.

At Ward E Agege, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa’s ward, Sanwo-Olu earned 492 as against Ambode, who had no vote.

In ward C2 Alimosho, Sanwo-Olu scored 16, 724 as against Ambode’s three votes.Also, at Mushin LG 1,Ward 2, Sanwo-Olu secured 4,011, as against Ambode’s five votes.At Kosofe l, Wards C, D, E & F, Sanwoolu earned 16,153 as opposed to Ambode’s 83.

At Ejigbo Ward F5, from where Ambode’s commissioner for information and strategy, Kehinde Bamgbetan, hails, Sanwo-Olu polled 14,490 votes with none recorded for Ambode.

Bola Tinubu, who spoke with journalists in Ikeja, reiterated the position of the party, saying Ambode had deviated from the template of governance in the state, hence the party has resolved to change him.

Speaking with journalists after participating in the voting process, Sanwo-Olu said he was pleased with the turnout and exuded  confidence he would win.

“So far, you can see that the process has been peaceful. Although, you may say it is a bit rowdy, but it is about people’s enthusiasm and this is Lagos Island, my family house is about three or four buildings away from here.
“When we insisted on having direct primary, this is what we envisaged. To let people have their say in the voting process and so far, everything has been orderly. I can say as it is here, so it would be across the entire 245 wards in the state. We are confident of victory,” Sanwo-Olu said.

Meanwhile, in Epe, the home town of Governor Ambode, State House correspondents who went with the governor did not cover his voting process, as only state-owned Lagos Television was allowed to cover Ambode’s accreditation and voting.

However, some results from Epe show that at Ward C, Ambode beat Sanwo-Olu, as he secured 8,773 votes against 12.

At Akinbaye Ward, Isolo, Sanwo-Olu got 3,506 while Ambode got four.
At Ilasamaja Ward, Sanwo-Olu got 190 while Ambode got 12 votes.
