The Inspector General of Police , Mohammed Adamu on Monday vowed that he will enforce President Muhammmadu Buhari’s orders to secure Abuja at all cost
The IGP states this while briefing State House Correspondents after briefing the President on the skirmishes between supporters of the detained Islamic Cleric, El- Zakzaky in Abuja on Monday.
He disclosed that President Buhari, charge him to provide security for every Nigerian.
“The President asked us to make sure we provide security for every citizen of this country and not to leave any space that some group of people will create breakdown of law and order”
Mohammed who stated that he was at the Presidential Villa to brief Mr. President on the security situation in the country, especially the activities of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), said they also provided “ an update of what is happening in the country vis a vis their activities”
“Specifically we briefed him of the incessant act coming out of this group of people, protesting here and there. We briefed him on the fact that we have been able to curtailed their excesses and to let him understand that everything is under control.
The group had while attacking security forces destroyed two vehicles, including the Emergency Response and Ambulance Bays (ERABs) of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) located on Ahmadu Bello Way beside the Federal Secretariat
The two vehicles were burnt down by members of Islamic Movement of Nigeria commonly known as Shi’ites while carrying out the attack.
The two burnt vehicles were the Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU), which is a life support ambulance and a multi-purpose Response Intervention Van (Rescue Tender).
The ERABs was situated at the location for timely response to emergencies and disasters to reduce loss of lives and property.
Director General of NEMA Engr Mustapha Maihaja has visited the response bay and inspected the damage.
