El-Rufai to deliver lecture as Kings College marks 106th anniversary

Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai will deliver a lecture ‘Preparing The Youth for a democratic future’ on Friday, September 18, as part of activities marking the 106 founders’ day celebration of Kings College, Lagos.

Leke Oshunniyi, vice president, Kings College Old Boys Association (KCOBA), said this in Lagos while announcing activities lined up to celebrate the week-long event.

According to him, activities will commence on Friday, September 18, with the founders’ day lecture, later the same day an anniversary Jumat service will hold at the college assembly hall.

“The grand finale of the Kingsweek will be the 106 Founders Day dinner that will hold on Saturday, September 19, at the assembly hall and will have Yemi Osinbajo, vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as the guest of honour,” Oshunniyi said.

Working closely with the school authorities and the Federal Ministry of Education, we have contributed substantially to the upgrade of learning infrastructure in the school, he said.

The challenge facing the college is many but the good old school continues to remain the leading secondary school in Nigeria, he said.

“Over the last year, the Old Boys Association of the college has been instrumental in delivering several benefits to the schools, its member and Nigeria. We remain resolutely committed to advancing the interests of these three stakeholders groups,” he said.

Oshunniyi further announced that the 106th founders’ day celebration would be wrapped up with an anniversary thanksgiving service at the Kings College Lagos main campus assembly hall on Sunday, September 20, while the annual general meeting will hold by 2pm same day at the assembly hall.
