Graduates from Digifypro Nigeria a non-profit initiative, are now ready to begin their careers in top media and advertising agencies across the country and in Netherlands following a three months intensive training on cutting edge digital skills.
Top agencies like Digitplus, Fuel media, Noah Ark, Iprospect, Automatic, Amnet, Brandeye Media, Dkt international has all accommodated the graduates.
Others are Webcoupers, 141 worldwide, Business school Netherlands, Algorithm Media, Etu Odi, Teras Doxas , X3m IDEAS, Isobar, and Ovi media.
Speaking at the Graduation ceremony, the programme Director in Nigeria, Florence Olumodimu said despite technology now a vital driving force in personal and work life, however the supply of highly-skilled tech workers has not kept pace with industry’s growth.
“The implication of the digital skills gap in Nigeria, likely results in thousands of unfilled jobs, this opens up opportunities for the teeming unemployed graduates we have in the nation. Digify Pro Nigeria is determined to address this shortage, thereby creating a consistent pipeline of capable and employable young talent into brands and agencies,” she said.
Olumodimu further stated that aside training our young people to work in a digital space to the growth of the economy; we also ensured we have a highly skilled workforce that is able to compete internationally.
“The training programme also adequately covered vocational and workplace skills such as: emotional intelligence; problem solving; decision making and adaptability skills; teamwork skills; effective communication skills; leadership skills; goal setting skills; personal organisation, planning, time management; gender equity sensitivity; knowledge of contemporary issues; self-awareness and self-learning.”
On the The DigifyPro participants she described them as “strong people, always giving it their best and staying very passionate. They have to be strong to have survived this far still smiling, still happy and still giving it their best even with all the intense training, case studies, assignments, practical sessions, presentations and tours”
Olumodimu called on organisations to come forward with request for the graduates as interns, “we are excited to offer our graduates who have solid digital and work skills as interns.”
For Ijedi Iyoha Acting Registra Advertising Practitioner Council of Nigeria, she urged the graduates to strive hard to improve further on what they have learned.
“The trainings you have received have already helped bridge the skills gaps faced by young people transitioning from university to their first career in digital, the responsibility are now on you to make a mark for yourself.”
