Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has said that the state was witnessing progress in road construction, construction of markets, provision of healthcare facilities and other projects that are easing transportation and stimulating socio-economic development of the state.
The governor said his administration was committed to achieving prosperity across the state.
He stated this during the official presentation of Staff of Office to His Royal Majesty, Michael Orugbo, Okporua I, the Ovie of Udu Kingdom at Otor-Udu, Udu Local Government Area, Delta State.
Governor Oborevwori who was represented by Monday Onyeme, his Deputy, specifically noted that “under our MORE Agenda, my administration remains committed to Udu’s prosperity.
“Across Udu, we are witnessing progress in road construction, Udu Harbour market, healthcare facilities, projects that are easing transportation, stimulating local trade, creating jobs and bringing government closer to the people.
“I am particularly proud of the successful take-off of the Federal Medical Centre at Ovwian, which now serves as a beacon of healthcare excellence for Udu and its neighbouring communities.”
Governor Oborevwori while congratulating HRM Okporua I, on his enthronement as the Ovie of Udu Kingdom, stated; “This ceremony is more than tradition; it is a reaffirmation of our heritage and a celebration of unity, peace and progress.
“Your Majesty, your emergence from one of Udu’s seven ruling houses, in line with the 1979 Chieftaincy Edict, reflects the wisdom and unity of your people.
“The joy that followed your selection is a testament to your character and the trust placed in you.
“As an engineer, Justice of Peace, and Papal Knight, you bring intellect, humility and innovation to the throne.
‘You are both guardian of tradition and a visionary leader.
“The Staff of Office symbolizes your duty to lead with fairness, preserve your culture and foster development.
“I urge you to sustain peace, heal divisions, empower the youths and expand opportunities for all.
“The strength of any kingdom lies in its people, as such, I call on all sons and daughters of Udu to support their monarch, uphold lawful authority and contribute to community growth.
“A united people empower their king and together, progress becomes inevitable.

“Udu Kingdom occupies a special place in the economic landscape of Delta State; it is not only rich in tradition and culture but also an industrial and commercial powerhouse.
“The presence of the Delta Steel Company and other oil and gas facilities, alongside vibrant small and medium enterprises, attests to the industry and entrepreneurial spirit of the Udu people.
“We are also working to resolve the Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh boundary dispute and maintain peace in Ayama, Epame and beyond.
“Peace is the bedrock of progress and I am confident that under your reign, Udu will flourish as a beacon of harmony.” Governor Oborevwori emphasized.
Vincent Oyibode, Chairmann of Udu LGA, at the occasion, said, the LGA remains dependable partner to the state government’s MORE Agenda.
Earlier, in a welcome address read on behalf of Udu Kingdom,, the President-General of Udu Communities, Andrew Dorkie, an evangelist expressed appreciation to the state government for approving the reconstruction of the Udu main road to ECN junction.
He commended the governor for resolving the impasse in the leadership of the Union of Udu Communities, composition of the Udu Traditional Council and the Aladja-Ogbe-Ijoh boundary dispute.
