Coronavirus: Four Sokoto travellers test positive for the disease in Oyo

Four of the travellers from Sokoto State who were intercepted at the Oyo-Osun boundary have tested positive for coronavirus.

The Oyo State border patrol team on Saturday apprehended eleven travellers at the Asejire Dam axis of the Ibadan-Osun boundary and Governor Seyi Makinde said they must be tested.

The travellers defied the inter-state lockdown order of the Oyo State Government, in their bid to sneak into Akure, Ondo State.

They claimed that they were travelling from Sokoto en route to Akure, Ondo State.

However, the Oyo State’s Incident Manager, Taiwo Ladipo, a medical doctor, said four of the travellers have tested positive for coronavirus

Ladipo who disclosed this in Ibadan on Tuesday said they are presently isolated at the Infectious Diseases Centre, Olodo.

Meanwhile, confirmed coronavirus cases in Oyo State now stands at 39, with 28 active cases.

The State also recorded two COVID-19 related deaths, while eleven have been discharged.
