Over 3,000 shop subscribers that are qualified for the new ultra-modern Machine Parts Plaza, a project of the United Allied Spare Parts Dealers Association (UASPADA) in Lagos International Trade Fair Complex along Badagry Expressway, would take possession of the property November 2014, according to its executive management.

This was announced by Bartholomew Achukwu, president, UASPADA, at the Association’s annual general meeting, in Lagos. While commending his members for their patience and cooperation, Achukwu said the new date for allocation would be November 20, saying “our original plan was to hand over these shops to their rightful owners by August ending, but that didn’t happen as we noticed some vital areas, which need to be touched before we can move in.

“Consequently, we requested for more time to enable us perfect the finishing works. I thank all our members for your patience and cooperation while construction is in progress, and this is to announce to you that we have fixedNovember 20, 2014, as the new date for allocation of shops. All our subscribers are hereby requested to gather here on that day to receive your shops in readiness for our moving in and opening of this market come December 15, 2014.”

Speaking more on the development, the union’s secretary general, Simon Uzoetue, outlined conditions and modalities for the shop sharing, which according to him will be strictly based on the verification records available with the executive.

“The shop sharing formula shall be based strictly on the verification records available with us; and only genuine subscribers who completed all the necessary payments, including road network and drainage, shall qualify to own these shops. Secondly, any shop owner who fails to open his shop one week after we moved in will have his right of ownership withdrawn and the shop allotted to others who have immediate need for it,” Uzoetue said.

Meanwhile, more than 1,200 traders who attended the meeting were full of joy and excitement as some of them that spoke at the meeting could not hide their feeling of gratitude to the exco members and the works committee for the work done at the site.
