Determined to raise the stake for airline operators and policy makers within Nigeria’s aviation and travel industry, Travel.Com publishing ltd, has unveiled its new online publication; www.nigeriatravelsmart.com specifically targeted at the aviation, hospitality and tourism sector.
The online publication designed to intimate air passengers and by extension the general public on current events and trends within the aviation, hospitality and tourism industry, will according to its promoters, also task airline operators and policy makers on effecting best aviation standards in the industry.
Speaking to a select group of journalist while unveiling the publication in Lagos, Simon Tumba, the publisher and CEO of nigeriatravelsmart.com, noted that there is currently a gap in the aviation industry for real-time online publication.
This he said his team will aim to bridge, by shaping a strong virile Nigerian travel industry for the pride of all stakeholders, adding that www.nigeriatravelsmart.com will unearth policies in line with global standards, and challenge service providers and policy makers to meet these standards.
Commending Travel.Com for the lofty initiative, Christophe Pennick, managing director, Bi-Courtney, said Nigeria had always been in need of such a platform, where Nigerians and visitors can access information on a regular basis, adding that Bi-Courtney will be ever ready to render all necessary assistance to the publishing outfit.
“This initiative should offer a push to decision makers, by helping them institute policies that will help the sector attain its full potential,” Pennick said, adding that despite the huge potentials in the aviation sector, enough efforts is not employed in exploiting these opportunities.
Fatima Garbati, member, advisory board, Travel.Com publishing ltd, in her submission maintained that a platform such as www.nigeriatravelsmart.com where industry experts can share opinions, discuss pertinent issues to the growth of the aviation sector is long over due.
Two unique sections of the site are: the punctuality rating of domestic carriers, which is aimed at making carriers more responsible to their schedules. The i-Complain section is for travellers who experience poor customer services to file their complaints to the Consumer Protection Directorate of Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) through the website.
Tumba is a veteran aviation and travel journalist with over 25 years experience in travel and aviation journalism.
