As part of its commitment to digital learning, Pearson has announced new teacher guides to demonstrate the power of technology in enhancing learning outcomes. The guides will be available via the Pearson Nigeria website at no cost to educators. The delivery of the project via a new system on the website will also provide quality resources to more than 10,000 teachers across the country.
The digital teacher guides is introduced to support Pearson’s leading numeracy and literacy titles for Nigerian schools, covering aspects of student texts which include; New General Mathematics for Primary Schools, New General Mathematics for Senior Secondary Schools, New General Mathematics for Junior Secondary Schools, Primary English Project (Primary Schools), Junior English Project (Junior Secondary Schools) and Senior English project (Senior Secondary Schools).
Muhtar Bakare, managing director, Pearson Nigeria, explained that guides such as this are not typically available free of charge, but Pearson has committed to making the guides widely available as a way of exhibiting the benefits of digital technology in education”.
According to him, “Technology is not a panacea to the problems Nigeria’s education system faces. However, when applied and used appropriately, educational technologies can have a very real, positive impact on teaching and learning outcomes and in reducing the costs involved in delivering quality education”
Bakare disclosed that by making these guides digitally available to a large number of Nigerian teachers, the company intends to help educators see the power of technology in enhancing the teaching process.
“These easily accessible guides will facilitate the planning and delivery of lessons and help teachers motivates their students to achieve at higher levels”. He said
In introducing the new guide, Pearson assures that each of these texts have been fully revised and updated to comply with the Nigerian Educational Research Development Council Curriculum and have been designed using Pearson’s world class content development capabilities. The texts focus on embedding 21st Century skills in learners, preparing them not only for academic success, but also long-term success in a future workforce.
The teacher guides accompanying the texts are pedagogical aids and instructional handbooks designed to ensure both teachers and learners utilise the full potential of the texts. The guides will assist Nigerian educators to attain expected competency levels and learning outcomes by enhancing student engagement and concentration. The teacher guides are available to registered Nigerian teachers via the Pearson website.
