The top hierarchy of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife recently paid a courtesy visit to Neimeth.
The visit on Thursday 2nd July, 2015 had the Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy Grace Omawunmi, Francis A. Oladimeji (immediate past Head of Department) and Gbenga Alebiowu(current Head of Department) in the Faculty representing the University. The entourage whose requests cut across equipment donation, research collaboration and students Industrial experience met with the top management of Neimeth.
Speaking at the event, the MD/CEO of Neimeth, Pharm. Emmanuel Ekunno said that beyond products and equipment donation as part of Neimeth CSR efforts, Neimeth is also looking at collaborating with OAU in Research and Development (R & D) through collaborative research on natural, unique or innovative products.
He further said that Neimeth would collaborate with the Faculty on other areas such as:
Absorption of Pharmacists, Excipients Development, Institution of Neimeth Award for Best Research student (on Unique/Innovative Products).
Reiterating the MD/CEO’s views, the Director of Manufacturing Pharm. O. A. Ojakoya said that Neimeth’s R & D effort is greatly skewed towards product development.
In her response, the Dean Faculty of Pharmacy OAU Ile-Ife Prof. Grace Onawunmi appreciated Neimeth for the equipment donated and said they would be used to foster learning and research in the Faculty. To her, the donation was a notable contribution that has followed the same tradition of Aid/Sponsorship Neimeth has given the Faculty in the past and hopes the sponsorship continues both materially and financially.
Furthermore, she said that the Faculty is open to collaborative research projects which would be mutually beneficial to Neimeth and Obafemi Awolowo University including Natural Products research.
Speaking further, the immediate past Head of Department in the Faculty Francis A. Oladimeji advised that it would be necessary to appoint a collaboration team from Neimeth and Obafemi Awolowo University to initiate Product Development.
In his own remarks, the current HOD in the Faculty Gbenga Alebiowu said that the Faculty would also need support for Industrial experience for students and even outright employment post-graduation.
Neimeth as part of her Corporate Social Responsibility also donated the following equipment to the Faculty.: Tripple Beam Balance, Centrifuge, UV/Visible Spectrophotometer, Hobart Mixer, Oven as her contribution to the continuous growth of the teaching of Pharmacy in the institution.
Neimeth further donated the sum of N250,000 (Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) to assist the Faculty in the installation of the donated equipment.
