…calls for collaboration in accessing Africa’s resource wealth

Mouka, Nigeria’s leading manufacturer of quality sleep solutions has reiterated its commitment to the federal government’s diversification policy plans to boost it local sourcing of raw materials.

Femi Fapohunda, managing director of Mouka Limited, who stated this will speaking at the just concluded Africa Raw Materials Summit 2025, held recently in Abuja, stressed that the organisation is committed to the growth of the continent’s resource wealth.

“At Mouka, we believe raw materials are more than just inputs — they are the starting point for transformation,” Fapohunda said.

“That’s why we remain committed to quality, local sourcing, and sustainable innovation — all aimed at building a stronger Africa from the ground up,” he added.

He highlighted the urgent need for African countries to collaborate in harnessing the continent’s immense resource wealth.

He noted that Africa holds over 60 percent of the world’s arable land and 40 of key mineral deposits, including lithium essential for renewable energy, yet these resources remain underutilised.

“We must optimise our resources — from preservation of yield to ease of transportation — to enhance global competitiveness,” he emphasised.

He called for a shift from rhetoric to action, saying “Africa needs to stop looking to the West for solutions.”

“We have what it takes to succeed—from vast resources to resilient people. It’s time we enact the right laws, implement forward-thinking policies, and foster regional collaborations.”

He urged the government, research institutions, the private sector, and all key stakeholders to ensure the laudable strategies discussed during the conference don’t remain on paper.

“Let us commit to action, collaboration, and innovation that can truly transform Africa’s raw material potential into tangible economic and social value. ”

Speaking on the organisation, he says Mouka is a key player in Africa’s sleep industry’s raw material value chain.

“Our footprint extends beyond Nigeria to the rest of Africa and the Middle East, through our holding company.”

Speaking on partnerships, he used the Mouka-Dolidol partnership as a model, underscoring the benefits of firm-to-firm relationships that enable shared expertise and expanded market access.

“With operations already in Morocco, Ethiopia, Uganda, Côte d’Ivoire, and soon Togo, Mouka’s pan-African footprint reflects the advantages of synergistic continental partnerships.”
