In a bid to continually engage and inform stakeholders about its unique offerings and superior product technology, Mantrac Nigeria Limited, the authorised Caterpillar dealer in Nigeria, recently organised a seminar for consultants involved in power projects across Nigeria – the biggest power solutions market in Africa.

Tagged ‘Consultant Day,’ the seminar took place at the InterContinental Hotel, Lagos. The seminar served as a platform for consultants to
know more about Caterpillar’s total power solutions and gas product range in order to achieve optimal efficiency for their various power projects.

It was also an opportunity for consultants to interact with Caterpillar and Mantrac’s product specialists. The event, which had in attendance senior Caterpillar and Mantrac personnel, featured presentations from CAT territory manager – Electric Power Projects, Swann Piguet and Julian Carrasco, Mantrac – large projects manager.

Speaking at the event, managing director of Mantrac Nigeria, Edmund Martin- Lawson, stressed the importance of consultants in the power sector to Mantrac.

“Consultants are very important to our business because they specify the power solutions that are required or can also specify which solutions a project must use. We try to educate them to understand the benefits of our products in the projects they handle.

When it comes to fuel consumption, affordability, fuel efficiency, reliability and durability, Caterpillar is a clear leader,” he said.

Also speaking at the event, Segment Manager, Investor and Large Projects Mantrac Nigeria, Mohamed Abou El Wafa, stated that the company found it necessary to bring together consultants involved in power projects in order to interact with them, know their needs and avail them all the information and support Caterpillar offers.

He added that “Consultants are key for us and we have to keep them constantly informed about the latest of our technologies in the power sector. In terms of power systems, Nigeria is the biggest market for Mantrac and we keep ensuring that we give customers high quality products all the time.”

Commenting on the efficiency of Caterpillar products, Mohamed stated, “Caterpillar is well-known worldwide for the durability and reliability of its products.

They have the best generators and engines worldwide. We have validated a new service for our customers called the ‘Trade-in’. If the customer has any generator of a certain capacity from any manufacturer, we can buy this generator from the customer and give him a new Caterpillar replacement”.

Mohamed added that even though the market in Nigeria is very challenging, the privatization of the power sector has given a lot of investors’
opportunities to enter the market which would make the Nigerian market remain the biggest in Africa, at least for the next 10 years.
