LAPO distributes N62.2 billion to clients in 2013

The management of Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO) said it disbursed the sum of N62.2billion as at December 2013 to its clients.

BusinessDay reports that the management of the leading microfinance institutions in the country gave the hint during the 2013 staff awards presentation ceremony at the weekend in Benin City.

LAPO had in 2013 targeted the disbursement of N61.8billion to its clients.

The organization has clients base of over one million and its cumulative disbursement since inception about 25 years ago reached over one billion dollars.

The breakdown of the disbursement and clients of the organization for 2011 to 2012 showed that the sum of N31.5 billion and N46.4billion were disbursed to 518,187 and 756.904 clients respectively.

The financial institution has branches in 26 states in the federation and four regional offices.

In his address of welcome, the managing director and chief executive officer of LAPO, Godwin Ehigiamusoe said the institution has total staff strength of 3,551 made up of 1,485 males and 2,066 females.

Ehigiamusoe who was represented by the Associate director, Moses Ehigiamusoe attributed the success of the organization in the past two decades to staff commitment, dedication and positive attitude to work.

He said the organization has earmarked the sum of N92.7billion for disbursement to Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in 2014 fiscal year.

He added that a total of 629 staff members were honoured with long service awards for five to twenty- five years service while 43 received best credit and best non- credit staff of the year awards in the organization.
