Geregu Power Plc’s combined profit for the year ending 2025 is expected to close at a record N44.02 billion, almost double what the electricity supplier generated in the prior year.

In its third and fourth quarter earnings forecast published on the Nigerian Exchange, Geregu Power sees net income for the second half of the year surge to N23.84 billion, an improvement from N20.18 billion it posted in the first six months to June of 2025.

The expected full-year profit after taxation for 2025 is higher than the N27.42 billion recorded in 2024, representing a 174 percent increase from 2023 levels.

Geregu Power, led by billionaire Femi Otedola, is banking on a soaring revenue that is projected to hit N120.66 billion in H2 – that’s significantly higher than the entire turnover recorded in 2023 at N82.9 billion.

The Kogi-based company is expected to post its highest revenue ever in 2025 at N207.66 billion, representing a 51.45 percent rise from the previous year.

The power-generating company with a 435-megawatt plant projects a strong operating profit of N38.78 billion in the second half of 2025, but financing pressures will temper this performance.

The company expects to earn N3.43 billion in finance income, largely from cash and investments, while incurring a higher N6.42 billion in finance costs, mainly from interest on borrowings. This results in a net finance cost of 2.97 billion, which will erode part of its operating gains.

Even so, the operating strength provides enough cushion to absorb financing expenses, leaving the company well-positioned as it forecasts pre-tax earnings of N35.8 billion for the period between July to December 2025.

With projected revenue of N207.67 billion for the year, the forecast highlights Geregu’s confidence in sustaining strong margins and operational momentum in an industry facing rising demand and evolving regulatory dynamics.
