The use of fake filters driers, expansion valves and commercial compressors that cannot support irregular electricity voltage in Nigeria are one of the leading causes of damages to fridges, air conditioners and other coolants, Danfoss Group has warned.
Youssef Zitouni, Danfoss sales manager, North, West & Central Africa regeneration and air conditioning told BusinessDay that the company was carrying out intense awareness campaign through their “Fight Counterfeit” campaign so that Nigerians can understand how to identify genuine Danfoss product from counterfeit ones.
“All Danfoss products are built on an impressive platform of knowhow and experience. The material we use and the technology we apply are of the highest quality – which is why Danfoss products come with a multitude of international approvals.
Counterfeits, on the other hand, are likely to have a number of shortcomings. These may interfere with the operation of an entire system and at worst cause the compressor to break down. So it pays to stay clear of fake products. Especially if you wish to protect your reputation in the market.”
“We believe that a lot of installers are being cheated by the looks which be deceptive, low quality and sometimes refurbished products. In this case we are proving to the market, the right tools to identify the fake products, and educating the installers on the consequences of using such products
Kolawole Omoyele, Danfoss Business development manager, also highlights another important objective for their recent push into Nigeria market. “Danfoss can play an outstanding role to execute the Nigeria Government goals in achieving optimal energy mix using the most appropriate technology, and robust infrastructure aimed at achieving the welfare of the people, sustaining a better future and attract foreign investments.
That could be by delivering Danfoss innovative products and solutions that help make a big difference for the citizens and communities of the future – in terms of sustainable infrastructure, food supply, energy efficiency, and climate-friendly solutions.”
He also noted that the company is partnership with the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) and the Nigerian Association of Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Practitioners (NARAP) in the war against counterfeiting of their products. The company said it had started the war on social media and sensitizing installers in different companies where they operate how to identify genuine Danfoss components.
According to Levant Tasken, group regional president, Turkey, Middle East & Africa, the company operates in 25 countries, employing 24,000 people and produces approximately 250,000 components each day at the company’s 76 factories. He also
said that Danfoss Group, with headquarters in Denmark is a global leader in energy efficient solutions, providing accessories and components for industrial and commercial refrigeration. The company’s core areas of focus are providing commercial and industrial air conditioning and cooling systems, sales and maintenance of drives and components for heating and cooling systems and components for renewable energy solutions.
