The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) has moved to complement the Federal Government’s fight against financial crimes in Nigeria. Consequently, the Institute has concluded plans to assemble high ranking and experienced professionals in relevant fields to address the critical issues at a workshop scheduled to hold in Abuja, from April 23 – 24, 2015.
Ibrahim Lamorde, chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), will deliver a keynote address at the anti-money laundering workshop.
Other speakers include Agnes Martins, HCIB, director, banking supervision, Central Bank of Nigeria; Francis Oka-Phillips Usani, director-general, Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit; Muazu Zubairu, DIG, special fraud unit, Nigeria Police; Tayo Kayode, World Bank Consultant, among others.
In a statement signed by Ben Igbokwe, head, corporate communications and external relations, it is expected that at the end of the workshop, participants will be able to appreciate the roles and responsibilities of government, regulatory and law enforcement authorities in preventing money laundering; understand the implications and penalties for non-compliance with anti-money laundering legislations; understand how virtual networks are used to move illicit funds globally; set up compliant and cost effective anti-money laundering system and understand customer due diligence requirements.
