The Premier League has announced it will operate two transfer windows this summer to allow Manchester City and Chelsea to sign players before the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
The window will be open from 1-10 June, then pause for five days before resuming from 16 June to 1 September.
The expanded FIFA Club World Cup will feature 32 teams and run from June 15 to July 13. City and Chelsea, the Premier League’s representatives, will be able to register new players in two FIFA-approved periods: June 1-10 for the tournament’s start and June 27 to July 3 for the knockout rounds.

The Premier League had to split its transfer window to comply with FIFA’s 16-week limit on transfer periods while ensuring alignment with Europe’s major leagues, which prefer to close the summer window at the end of August.
This setup could impact international players with expiring contracts, such as Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) and Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City), who might need to resolve their futures before or during the Club World Cup.
FIFA has also adjusted its registration rules, allowing clubs to sign players solely for the duration of the tournament, though it remains unlikely that City or Chelsea will take that approach.
