Cloud Computing and Data Centre System will attract huge growth in Nigeria if the country’s Technology Strategy could be redefined in such a way that players in the industry would have quality contributions in what is obtainable and practicable, Remi Adejumo, managing director of the Cloudflex Computing Service said.
Speaking on the heels of issues surrounding the presence of data centres in the country, Adejumo explained that Nigeria has several world-class data centres that offer accommodation, power, cooling, networking, IT equipment security, among others, but lack of definite system and a defined policy template inhibit the desired growth in that sub-sector of the nation’s economy.

“The data centres offer an economy of scale especially with regards to power. The amount of power required and used makes it more economical for corporate entities to be in data centres rather than in a data room in their location,” he said.
According to Adejumo, despite the negative impression and the inability of the government to have a coherent technology strategy, there is a demand and consumption of such services in Nigeria.
“The data centres mentioned above are built, operational, and serving customers. Rack Centre for example has been in operation for six years and has not had even one second of downtime in its existence. This shows that there are world-class data centres in Nigeria that meet international standards.”
