Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra-Biafra Independent Movement(MASSOB-BIM) says it is not in support of the call for restructuring of Nigeria as being advocated by some elder statesmen and politicians from the South East geopolitical zone, describing the call as an act of cowardice.
In a statement signed by Anselm Ogbonna, zonal information director, Abia Central zone, the group said that these politicians forget to seek the opinion of the people they represent before making such utterances.
“Are they calling for restructuring while the people they are owing salaries are aggrieved over their nonchalant attitude towards the electorate who gave them the opportunity. Instead of them to have the pertinent feelings on how to address the problems of the masses rather they are busy clamouring for restructuring because of their selfish interests,” Ogbonna said.
The group had insisted that these people did not really know what they wanted, adding that they are on their own.
The statement recalled that it was the same call made by the late Biafran leader, Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu in 1966 which the then Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon refused to heed to at that time.
The group accused the politicians of having attempted to hijack the Biafra struggle without success.
“They should stop suffering people since they don’t have any good agenda for the masses. What we are talking about is a total Biafra freedom from Nigeria and there is no going back on it. They should go and restructure their bedrooms and stop deceiving the people,” the group further said.
