Nigeria has been called upon to evolve a national campaign that will help market and sell the country to foreign investors in order to woo them and also encourage them to invest in the country.

The Acting British Deputy High Commissioner in Nigeria, Ahmed Bashir MBE, who made this call in an interview with BusinessDay in Lagos, explained that nations, including UK, do have campaigns with which they correct wrong perceptions about their country and also sell their potentials and opportunities to investors in the outside world.

Bashir, who was the at the project site of Gracefield Phoenix—a luxury island development on the shoreline of Lagos Lagoon being promoted by Gravitas Limited in partnership with Lagos State government, noted that it does not cost much to do a campaign ona country.

“There are opportunities here and there are a lot that British businesses can do to make a difference here; a number of British investors want to come to Nigeria, but there is a missing link here which is the policy and infrastructure. People talk about ease of doing business and this is about infrastructure”, he said, assuring that investors coming will set up business and make a difference not only in Lagos but in the wider economy of Nigeria.
