Senate President Bukola Saraki has named the Senate Committees on Petroleum Upstream and Downstream, Niger Delta, Capital Market among the 20 committees yet to submit their 2018 budget report to the Appropriations panel.

This comes as he urged the affected standing committees, which serve as sub-committees to the Appropriations Committee during budget consideration, to submit their report latest by Friday April 13, 2019.

Speaking during plenary on Thursday, Saraki who presided over the session, listed other sub-committees yet to submit their report to the Appropriations Committee to include those on Sustainable Development Goals, Primary Healthcare and Communicable Diseases, Health, Industry, Industry, FCT, State and Local Government, Sport and Tourism.

Others are: Tertiary institutions and TETFUND, FEMA, Works, Defence, Army, Airforce, Navy, Power as well as Integration and Corporation.

“My meeting with the chairman appropriation…still shows a number of committees have not submitted reports. You know, we try as much as possible not to list but I have other no alternative than to list these committees so that the chairmen can know that they are holding all of us.

“The sub-committees have not submitted and they must submit unfailingly tomorrow (Friday),” Saraki said.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had on November 7, 2017 submitted a N8.612 trillion 2018 budget estimates to the joint session of the National Assembly.

Five months after the submission, both legislative chambers are yet to approve the proposal, with the Legislature and the Executive blaming each other for delay in approving the document.
