…Unionisation of Dangote workers within two weeks
The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas workers NUPENG, on Tuesday, announced the suspension of its strike following agreement brokered by the federal government between the organised labour and Dangote Group
A statement by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, on Tuesday, evening shows that the agreement has cleared way for the Unionisation of Dangote Group workers within two weeks from 9th to the 22nd of September.
The statement also noted that none of the Dangote workers will be victimised as a result of the trade dispute.

Recall that the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas workers, NUPENG had embarked on strike over the refusal of Dangote Group to allow its workers to be unionised by the registered labour unions.
The federal government through Muhammad Dingyadi, the Minister of Labour and Employment, called both patties for a reconciliation.
BusinessDay gathered that the disputes were resolved at a marathon meeting which started on Monday night.
According to the communique, Dangote Group agreed with the need to allow workers register with the unions adding that ” they are not adverse to the Unionisation of their employees
The organised labour also on their part agreed that ” Since workers’ Unionisation is a right, in line with the provisions of the extant laws, the management of the Dangote Refinery and Unionisation of employees of Petrochemicals, who are willing to unionize
” Arising from the strike notice, no worker or employee not the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical will be victimised”.
Parties are expected to to the Minister of Labour in a week after the conclusion of the engagement ” Bases in the MoU, NUPENG agreed to suspend the industrial action with immediate effect”.

Sayyu Dantata, representing the Dangote Group signed the communique on behalf of the organisation, while Benson Upah, representing the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, and N. Toro, representing the Trade Union Congress TUC, signed on b half of the organised Labour.
