Unity Bank Fire and How it Started

At approximately 7:40am, smoke was detected at The Unity Bank Headquarters on Ahmed Onibudo, in the business district  Victoria Island, Lagos.

The First fire service truck arrived on scene at 7:56am and began to combat the bellowing black smoke

“”It’s a disaster actually,” said one of the witnesses who is also an employee at Unity Bank.

According to initial assessments, the fire started on the 4th floor of the building and escalated quickly, owing partly to the nature of the building materials.

By 9:18 am there were six fire trucks at the scene of the fire, sent from neighbouring businesses including Nigerian Ports Authority, Eko Hotel. Lagos State Fire Services and Federal Fire Service also responded at the scene.  as well

By 9:46 The fire fighters were finally able to enter the building.
